President: Sreekumari Ramachandran

Mrs.Sreekumari Ramachandran is a graduate in Economics with a Visharad in Hindi. She is an accomplished author and has written over 30 books including short stories, novels, biographies and children's books. She writes in English and Malayalam and has translated several books between these languages.

She is a singer on All India Radio and Television. She has worked in many organisations including Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Academy and served as jury in Kerala state film award committee, Filmfare award committee and Mathrubhoomi film award committee.

She has won several awards in the literary field notably Rotary Literary Award, Tatapuram Sukumaran Award, Samskaara Sahiti Award, Khasak Award, INSA-Literary Award and Dr.Suvarna Nalapat Trust Award.


Sreekumari is married to Adv.Ramachandra Menon and lives in Cochin.

Secretary: Geetha Mathew

Mrs.Geetha Mathew is a mathematics graduate from Kerala University and was the college union secretary in BCM College, Kottayam. She later completed her Nursery Teachers Training from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in '87 and ran a pre-school for the Rotary Club in Panampilly Nagar. She had the opportunity to travel and live in various parts of India and abroad as she accompanied her husband, Mathew on his various postings.

She enjoys reading books and listening to music. Geetha and Mathew reside in Chakolas Habitat at Cochin. They enjoy traveling to exotic places. They are blessed with 3 children and 7 grandchildren.

Treasurer: Thomas K M

Mr.Thomas K M was born and brought up in Aranmula, a temple town situated on the banks of the holy river Pampa and famous for Aranmula Kannadi (Mirror made of metal). He studied in U C College, Aluva, M A College of Engineering, Kothamangalam (BE), Madras University (MBA) and IIT, Madras (M.Tech). After passing the prestigious Engineering Services Examination in 1967, he worked in various capacities in Southern Railway, Integral Coach Factory, Railway Board, National Academy of Indian Railways and South Central Railway. He completed specialized training programs in UK and took up the assignment as a trainer faculty at ESAMI, Arusha, Tanzania for their Railway Managers. He retired from Southern Railway in 2002 as Controller of Stores. Later, he worked as a Professor at MES College of Engineering, Kuttippuram till 2016.

Thomas is now settled down at Cochin with his wife Geetha. They are blessed with a son and a daughter and three grand children. He continues to enjoy learning and teaching management subjects.

Vice President: Hassina Joseph

Mrs.Hassina Joseph graduated in History from Madras University in 1975 and received International Montessori Teacher Training from Bengaluru. She started her teaching career in Balikamadom, Thiruvalla and later moved to Alpha Matriculation School Chennai. Entrepreneur at heart, she started VAM Bakery in Mumbai, very popular in the locality. Now, she is active as a volunteer at Sneha Nilayam Special School in Cochin

Executive Member: Chandran N

Mr.Chandran N was born and brought up in Trichur, Kerala. He Studied B.Com in the Sree Kerala Varma College. He is a Chartered Accountant by profession. He is qualified as a Cost and Management Accountant with the Institute of Cost and Management, Calcutta. He has passed the MBA course of Kerala University with distinction. Started his career with TELCO at Jamshedpur and later worked at Indian Aluminium Company Ltd, Alwaye, Kerala till 1975. With a spirit of adventure he moved on to work in Tanzania. He had the challenging opportunity to work as Financial Consultant with various projects of the World Bank in Africa.

In 2006, Chandran and wife Dr.Vasanthy (Gynaecologist) decided to return to Cochin and settle down there. However, they often travel to USA and spend time with their son who practices as Paediatric Cardiologist in Florida. Chandran and Vasanthy believe in the motto "Love Life! Live Life!". They love music and travel.

About the club and activities:

The club meets once a month. Birthdays and wedding anniversaries of members falling during the month are celebrated. Members share interesting information about their families, vacations and tours. Party games, songs and variety entertainment brighten up the meetings. Short speeches are made by members or invited guests on topics of interest. Picnics are organized at least once in a year.

Highlight of the year 2016:

Onam Celebrations

Onam is a festival celebrated in the state of Kerala which marks the homecoming of King Mahabali, a legendary king, who ruled Kerala in ancient times. This is a joyous occasion and people wear traditional dress and have a grand feast. Probus club celebrated Onam on 17 September 2016.

Traditional dance form Thiruvathirakali, Pulikkali (Tiger Dance) and Vanchippattu (Boat Song) were staged on this occasion.

Onam Celebrations

Festival of Onam was celebrated in traditional style on 23 August 2015.

Sunil Nellay and troupe performed enchanting dance in folk style, enacting a story about Lord Muruga.

Highlights of the year 2014:

Visit of members from Probus Club, Kamakura, Japan

Probus Club of Kamakura Japan had contacted us during the visit of a group of their members to India and we had a combined meeting on 28 January 2014. Mr Akira Takachi, President of Probus Club, Kamakura spoke on the occasion. The members could share a lot of information and had a very interesting time together. Speech and song by our members in Japanese was a pleasant surprise for the visitors. They in turn entertained us with group songs.

Celebrating the festival of Onam

Probus club celebrated the festival of Onam on 27 September 2014. Thiruvathirakali, a traditional dance form, was performed by renowned artist Malathy G Menon and troupe. Senior members of the club were honoured on this occasion
